VAXINE - FRONTAL LOBOTOMY
new york city. vaxine formed sometime in the last few years, cutting their teeth in the usual basements and dive bars before unleashing this debut lp on an unsuspecting world. and what a debut it is.
the style here is uk82 through a new york filter. you know the sound – that snottier end of the spectrum, the chaos uks and partisans and exploiteds of the world – but vaxine bring their own fucking fury to it. the vocals are all sneer and spit, the guitars cut like broken glass, and the whole thing stomps along with a relentless energy. no wasted movement. no filler. just track after track of lean, mean, hooky punk rock that doesn’t let up.
it’s not reinventing the wheel. but when the wheel rolls this fucking good, who cares? this is the sound of a band that knows exactly what they want to say and says it in under two minutes per song. stateside fury injected straight into the decaying corpse of uk82, and somehow it brings the bastard back to life.
