TØRSÖ - SONO PRONTA A MORIRE
fast. loud. heavy. angry. eleven songs, under twenty minutes. no breaks, no mercy.
feminist, straight edge, vegan - the lyrics hit as hard as the music and the female vocals are a constant vitriolic attack that cuts right through everything. not many d-beat bands go this route and it’s a very welcome change.
the guitars have that classic california crunch, like they took the best parts of the 80s west coast sound and poured modern aggression all over it. most songs barely break a minute and a half. every single one has a breakdown - some just drop to mid-tempo and let that crunch breathe, others slow things right down and turn the pit into a warzone.
i still remember exactly when i first heard torso. someone at a show was wearing a torso shirt and just the way the logo was written, the shirt design - something about it just pulled me in immediately. i needed to listen to this band, i don’t know how else to explain it. ten years later and this album hasn’t lost a single bit of its power.
just listen to it.
