RETSU - RETSU

retsu are from halifax, uk, started in late 2022 and now four people pulling together with connections to doom, extinction of mankind, hellkrusher and the masochists. “retsu” is their debut lp, released june 2024, nine songs of crust and d-beat that the band’s own “noisy hardcore punk” tag seriously undersells.

the lyrics are political throughout and cover a wide spread: brexit and the broken promises behind it, the cost of living crisis and food bank queues, war and the death toll we’ve been trained to ignore, exploitation and class rage, and anti-fascist fury. there’s also a personal side running through it: self-destruction, abuse, the cycles that keep you sinking. it hits like early doom from the police bastard days one minute, then goes dark and dragging, then slams back on the gas. the whole thing is absolutely diy in spirit, and this record would have slotted right in next to skuld releases or blind destruction output in the 90s.

nine tracks, twenty-six minutes, all fury.
